Rain Test

MIL-STD-810 F/G/H — RTCA DO 160 G

In the Rain Test, the sample is exposed to the effect of rain under normal conditions. The performance of the sample is observed during or at the end of the test, and any errors that occur are recorded. Tests can be carried out in accordance with all military and civilian standards that meet the technical specifications of the test cabins. It is possible to carry out tests in accordance with MIL STD 810, RTCA, DO 160 G, especially within our work area. Any type of sample with suitable physical properties (size/weight) can be tested. Test cabins of various types and sizes are used to perform the test.  

Windy rain testing evaluates the effects of falling rainwater on various types of devices and enclosures. Wind and rain testing conducted revealed, among other factors, the effect of rain and subsequent moisture penetration on water-resistant enclosures, water removal systems (drainage), radio communications, optical properties, radar effectiveness, weight gain and hindered functionality of mechanical devices, thermal change and control of additional components such as propellant burn rates.

Rules regarding water resistance in civil aircraft are specified in RTCA DO-160 Part 10.0. The importance of proper rain and wind testing for commercial aircraft is clear – when an aircraft must fly in almost any conditions, it must be able to do so safely and effectively.
