MIL-STD-461 E/F/G
The first version of the MIL-STD-461 Standard, developed by the United States (US) Department of Defense, was published in 1967 and became the basic EMC standard for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) qualification testing of military devices. The MIL-STD-461 standard has become the basis of many industrial and commercial applications over time, and this standard covers all areas of the army, including land, air and sea. MIL-STD-461 specifies interface and related verification requirements for the control of electromagnetic interference (EMI) emission and (EMC) susceptibility characteristics of electronic, electrical, and electromechanical equipment and subsystems. Such equipment and subsystems may be used independently or as an integral part of other subsystems or systems.
The most current requirement for MIL-STD-461 testing is the MIL-STD-461G procedure. However, E and F procedures are also applied in our facility.
MIL-STD-461 tests include various test procedures to evaluate resistance to electromagnetic interference and radio frequency (RF) interference. These tests may include a variety of tests such as conductive and non-conductive radiation, conductive and non-conductive emissions, radio frequency (RF) conductivity tests, and transmission modulation evaluations.
According to the MIL-STD-461E/F/G Military test standard, the emissions of the electronic device are controlled by measuring the transmission and antenna path, and by applying electromagnetic interference to the device via external transmission and antenna, and by observing the effects on the device. It mainly covers the following tests:
• Measuring emission levels from an electrical or electronic product interacting with other electrical or electronic products
• The ability of electrical or electronic products to operate in situations where other electrical or electronic products are nearby (immunity)
