WATER RESISTANCE TEST
TURKAK Accredited Testing and Verification
STEST is accredited by the Turkish Accreditation Institution (TURKAK) and carries out its testing and verification activities in an independent, competent, and impartial manner in compliance with national and international standards.
Water Resistance Test
The Water Resistance Test (Rain Test) is performed by exposing the specimen to simulated rainfall under representative operating conditions. During and/or upon
completion of the test, specimen performance is monitored and any nonconformities are recorded. Subject to the technical capabilities of the test chambers,
testing can be conducted in accordance with relevant military and civilian standards. In particular, testing in compliance with RTCA DO-160G / Section 10.0 can be
performed.
The wind-driven water resistance test evaluates the effects of falling rainwater on various types of equipment and enclosures. The scope of assessment may include
watertight enclosures, drainage systems, radio communications, optical performance, radar effectiveness, weight gain due to water retention, and degraded or
obstructed functionality. Where applicable, additional parameters such as mechanical operation, thermal effects, and propellant burn-rate influences can also be
verified within the same test framework.
RTCA DO-160G / Section 10.0 provides explicit guidance for wind and water resistance. Water resistance requirements for civil aircraft systems are defined under
this section, and the test is critical to ensuring that commercial aircraft can operate safely and effectively across a wide range of environmental conditions.
Objective Goal
- To evaluate product performance under combined rain and wind effects.
- To verify water resistance and sealing integrity under defined exposure conditions.
Test Scope Scope
- Assessment of water ingress under rain and wind exposure.
- Functional, communication, and optical performance checks, as applicable.
Technical Implementation Process
- Rain simulation and wind-driven water exposure are applied using test chambers of various types and capacities.
- During and after exposure, performance is monitored and any observed failures are documented.
Application Areas Use
- Civil and commercial aircraft systems.
- Aviation, defense, and outdoor equipment exposed to severe weather.
STEST performs Water Resistance (Rain) Testing in accordance with RTCA DO-160G / Section 10.0 requirements and provides detailed test reporting and technical documentation.
