LDC302 ABNORMAL VOLTAGE TRANSITIONS TEST
LDC302 Abnormal Voltage Transitions Test
The MIL-STD-704 Aircraft Electric Power Characteristics standard, prepared by the U.S. Department of Defense, defines
electrical power requirements for military aircraft and airborne equipment, including voltage, frequency, phase, ripple, and maximum current.
The most recent revision is MIL-STD-704F_CHG-1, published in 2016. This standard is not limited to the U.S. military and its subcontractors;
it is also widely recognized worldwide for assessing the compliance of military aircraft and associated systems.
Aircraft electrical power supplied in accordance with MIL-STD-704 is converted to the voltage levels required for onboard equipment operation.
To demonstrate conformity with MIL-STD-704, equipment is required to undergo the applicable MIL-STD-704 test sequences to evaluate the effects of defined
power conditions and verify compliance.
The LDC302 Abnormal Voltage Transitions Test is used to verify that 28 VDC utilization equipment operates at the specified performance level
when subjected to abnormal voltage transitions as defined in MIL-STD-704.
Objective Purpose
- The LDC302 Abnormal Voltage Transitions Test is used to verify that 28 VDC utilization equipment operates at the specified performance level when subjected to abnormal voltage transitions as defined in MIL-STD-704.
- To evaluate the effects of defined power conditions and verify compliance by completing the applicable MIL-STD-704 test sequences.
- To support conformity assessment within a standard that is widely recognized worldwide for the compliance evaluation of military aircraft and associated systems.
Test Scope Scope
- In the LDC302 Abnormal Voltage Transitions Test, utilization equipment is considered acceptable, as specified in the relevant table, if it operates and maintains performance as stated in the utilization equipment performance specification for abnormal aircraft electrical conditions when subjected to transient voltage variations within the abnormal limits of the current revision of MIL-STD-704.
- The test is applied to confirm that 28 VDC utilization equipment operates at the specified performance level when subjected to abnormal voltage transitions.
- Evaluation is performed within the context of converting aircraft power supplied by a MIL-STD-704-compliant source to the voltage levels required for utilization equipment operation.
Technical Approach Process
- The utilization equipment is considered acceptable if it operates and maintains performance as stated in the utilization equipment performance specification for abnormal aircraft electrical conditions when subjected to transient voltage variations within the abnormal limits of the current revision of MIL-STD-704.
- Unless otherwise specified in the utilization equipment performance specification, when power returns to normal limits, operation shall automatically return to the specified performance for normal aircraft electrical conditions.
- During the test, the utilization equipment shall not be damaged or create any unsafe condition.
Typical Applications Use
- Assessments within the scope of MIL-STD-704, which defines requirements for military aircraft and airborne equipment including voltage, frequency, phase, ripple, and maximum current.
- Verification that 28 VDC utilization equipment operates at the specified performance level when subjected to abnormal voltage transitions.
- Testing activities performed in accordance with TS EN ISO/IEC 17025 at our TURKAK-accredited STEST facility in Ankara.
