Insulated Equipment Type Testing (ATP)
Insulated Equipment Type Testing is a type test performed within the scope of ATP, the international agreement governing the carriage of perishable foodstuffs and the use of special equipment. ATP is a multilateral framework, adopted by numerous countries, that sets out requirements to ensure the safe transport of perishable goods under chilled or frozen conditions.
Purpose Objective
- To verify that appropriate temperature conditions are maintained during the transport of perishable foodstuffs.
- To help preserve food safety and product quality throughout the logistics chain.
Test Scope Scope
- Insulated special transport equipment used for the carriage of perishable foodstuffs.
- A broad range of equipment—from semi-trailers to smaller commercial vehicles, including tank-type equipment for liquid food transport.
Technical Implementation Process
- ATP insulated equipment type tests are conducted in accordance with the requirements defined in the ATP Convention.
- The ability of insulated equipment to consistently maintain the specified temperature conditions is verified.
Application Areas Use
- Transport of perishable foodstuffs such as meat, dairy products, seafood, and ice cream.
- Insulated transport equipment, mechanical refrigeration units, heaters, and eutectic plate systems.
