AC Power Line Immunity Verification in Accordance with MIL-STD-461

CS116 Test (Conducted Susceptibility, Damped Sinusoidal Transients on Cables 10kHz–100MHz)

The CS116 test, defined within the scope of MIL-STD-461, is intended to evaluate the immunity of electrical and electronic equipment to conducted electromagnetic disturbances carried on AC power leads. The test verifies compatibility with other onboard systems and assesses equipment robustness against electromagnetic effects coupled through AC power lines. By ensuring stable operation during mission conditions, CS116 supports overall electromagnetic compatibility across the platform.

Purpose of the CS116 Test Objective

  • Assess immunity to conducted electromagnetic disturbances coupled onto AC power leads.
  • Verify compatible operation with other onboard systems and resistance to AC power-line coupled electromagnetic effects.
  • Support electromagnetic compatibility by ensuring stable operation under mission conditions.

Scope of the CS116 Test Scope

  • Applicable to military equipment with AC power input leads.
  • Tests are performed while the equipment operates under normal operating conditions.
  • Frequency ranges and limit values defined in MIL-STD-461 revisions E, F, and G are taken as the basis.
  • Covers equipment used on land, naval, and airborne platforms.

CS116 Test Method Process

  • Controlled electromagnetic disturbances are coupled onto the equipment via AC power leads.
  • Stable line impedance conditions are ensured throughout the test.
  • Disturbance waveforms are applied using EMI generators in accordance with the standard.
  • Equipment performance and any malfunctions are monitored and recorded.
  • Results determine the equipment’s immunity level to AC power-lead conducted electromagnetic disturbances.

Our CS116 Testing Services and Infrastructure STEST

  • We perform CS116 AC power-lead conducted susceptibility (immunity) tests in accordance with MIL-STD-461 revisions E, F, and G in our TÜRKAK-accredited laboratory, compliant with TS EN ISO/IEC 17025.
  • Tests are carried out using configurations aligned with platform and project requirements, based on the methods defined by the standard.
  • CS116 testing is conducted in our shielded room, ensuring the measurement conditions required by military standards.

At STEST, we conduct CS116 AC power-lead conducted susceptibility (immunity) tests under the scope of MIL-STD-461 within our accredited infrastructure, ensuring the measurement conditions required by military standards.
