ATP/FRC Certificate Renewal
When a new trailer is purchased, the issued FRC certificate is valid for a period of six (6) years. Upon expiration of this period, the certificate must be renewed. For renewal, the vehicle is required to undergo a refrigeration performance test. Vehicles that successfully pass the test will have their certificates extended for an additional three (3) years. ATP certification cannot be issued for vehicles older than fifteen (15) years.
Certification for Vehicles Without an FRC (ATP) Certificate
Vehicles supplied together with a refrigeration unit are delivered with an FRC certificate issued by the manufacturer. However, vehicles in which the refrigeration unit has been installed at a later stage or fitted with a second-hand unit are subject to mandatory testing.
Even if the trailer is not new, testing is required in order to issue an FRC certificate for trailers where the refrigeration unit has been installed subsequently.
Certificates issued by TSE are internationally recognized and accepted in all other countries.
Tests Performed at Our Inspection Station
Vehicles to be issued an ATP/FRC certificate are subjected to a highly detailed preliminary inspection prior to undergoing the refrigeration performance test (pull-down test). The purpose of the pull-down test is not only to demonstrate that the refrigeration unit can operate under demanding conditions, but also to verify that the insulated body has not lost its thermal insulation performance.
All inspections and tests performed are documented and submitted to TSE in the form of a report. Subject to approval, an ATP certificate in the appropriate class is issued for the vehicle.
Important Considerations for Trailers to Be Tested
- The interior and exterior of the trailer body must be clean.
- The refrigeration unit must be fully operational.
- The internal temperature of the body must be equal to the ambient air temperature.
