ATP COMPLIANT BTB PROCESS IN PERISHABLE FOOD TRANSPORTATION

Standard Control and Testing Services
ATP-Certified BTB Process in Perishable Food Transportation
In perishable food transportation, temperature control is not only an operational requirement but also a technical obligation under ATP (Agreement on the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs) regulations. Especially for vehicles manufactured before 01.01.2022 and lacking an ATP Certificate of Conformity, the Perishable Food Transportation Certificate (BTB) process is intended to verify the insulation performance and temperature control capability of the vehicles.

Scope

The BTB process covers:

✔ Special transport equipment that has not exceeded 15 years since the import date
✔ Vehicles whose model year exceeds 15 years but whose superstructure has been renewed in compliance with ATP requirements
✔ Vehicles operating in domestic perishable food transportation without an ATP certificate

For vehicles exceeding 15 years of age that cannot meet compliance requirements, the superstructure must be reconstructed in accordance with ATP technical criteria.

Technical Inspection Process

The following technical inspections are carried out during the certification process:

✔ Physical integrity inspection of the insulated body structure (panel, insulation, and sealing checks)
✔ Evaluation of thermal bridges and moisture exposure
✔ Operational inspection of the refrigeration system
✔ Verification of temperature recording devices for vehicles transporting frozen products
✔ Validation of data output capability and calibration status of recording devices

These inspections are conducted based on ATP principles regarding thermal transfer coefficient (K-value) and temperature traceability.

Why Is Technical Verification Critical?

✔ Sustainability of the cold chain
✔ Legal assurance during inspection processes
✔ Reduction of product loss and quality risks
✔ Traceability and reportability

The cold chain is maintained not only through refrigeration equipment but also through verified insulation performance.

As Standart Kontrol ve Test Hizmetleri A.Ş., we conduct technical conformity assessments within the scope of ATP regulations through our expert engineering team and verified inspection infrastructure. We approach the process not merely as a certification activity, but as a technical assurance mechanism for food safety, regulatory compliance, and operational sustainability.

Our objective is to provide the sector with reliable, transparent, and traceable certification services.
